Their blurb

“Join us for a happy hour to connect with old friends, make new and learn about our member non-profit organizations. Our non-profit members are invited to showcase their incredible work in the community…and the WTCSE community is like none other; we hope you'll join us to show our gratitude.”

Event Summary

I’m newly friendly with the Director of Membership at World Trade Center Seattle, Alison Scott, and I’m a giant fan of her energy and approach to gatherings. If you haven’t been to this venue, I do recommend it. It does a neat trick of looking unassuming upon entry, but then you walk into a beautiful rotunda with a world map etched on the ceiling and a waterfront view. Tables lined the entryway and ringed the room, with a center appetizer station (seriously good food at WTC, their in house catering is fantastic). There were a diverse group of organizations represented, from Seattle Opera to the Woodland Park zoo, from the Wooden Boat Center to the special olympics. There were also a number of local artists  and craftspeople displaying wares for sale. Many donated items for the raffle (I won a bottle of wine).

Ticketing: Free with registration

Attendance: Hard to judge a fluid crowd space and people coming and going, I would guess maybe 70 people including those at tables.

Personal Bias/Reason I went: I wanted to see the WTC space in action, I’m looking at it for potential event opportunities and it was a bonus to meet more people from non-profits in the region.

Transparency/Communication

The event was exactly as described, with a confirmation email and a reminder that day assuring people it was still on after the epic storms the night before.

Event Goals

I did, in fact, connect with an existing friend (Alison) and meet lots of new people, in addition to learning about the organizations present - success!

Reception

The attitude of gratitude was pervasive throughout, and it definitely had a nice pre-holiday vibe to the festivities.

Value

Couldn’t be beat! I’m considering WTC membership for myself since I enjoy the venue (and food) so much.

Bottom line

It’s an annual event, and I will definitely be back next year!

Me with my raffle prize
